AI vs. Art and Journalism

UPDATE (06/02/2023): I HAVE NEVER ONCE USED CHATGPT OR ANY OTHER AI TOOL TO COMPOSE EVEN A SINGLE CHARACTER OF ANY OF MY CREATIONS, PRODUCTIONS, MESSAGES, LYRICS, ARTICLES, BOOKS, ART, BUSINESS, POETRY, MUSIC, OR VIDEOS – AND I NEVER WILL!

Artificial intelligence has many business applications but how will it affect journalism and the arts? The work is these fields is often considered to have a personal touch and some consider the use of AI technology, including Open AI’s ChatGPT, to be illicit. Others do not think that the technology is advanced enough to replace tasks currently handled by humans. Either way, AI will be used to save human resources in the world of business.

Tech mogul Elon Musk and more than 1,000 other leaders in the field recently signed an open letter calling for a pause on giant AI experiments until the summer is out. Some perceive the central concern at hand to be between the human race and machine, while others question which groups of Homo sapiens might have control of the AI.

Curtiss King released a #1 album on iTunes in 2022 using the AI-assisted LyricStudio software and has openly spoken about it on his Youtube channel. Songs generated by AI that mimic Kanye West and Drake have been going viral on Youtube, Instagram, and TikTok this year.

Sam Amick, a sports writer for The Athletic, recently revealed a text message that he received from a discontent NBA executive. The message said, “My only hope is you had ChatGPT regurgitate some of this drivel for you so it didn’t take very long to write.” In the world of American business, this technology will eventually replace many human tasks and jobs altogether, as machine did during the Industrial Revolution. We will again have to adapt as a society.
