SHADY CXVPHER…PIDD PIDD

I like the Shady Cxvpher from the jump because they use ambient city noise in the background instead of one of those basic, 90’s beats. If you’re going for straight lyrical delivery it makes no sense to restrict everyone’s flow to the same tempo. Acapella is the most revealing of talent. I’m not going to say too much about what they say, since it’s best to listen for yourself. In order, they go:

Crooked I: Aggressive at rappers, very creative. All tough.

Joe Budden: Serious but cool, as usual. His inflection and delivery is wild.

Yelawolf: Vivid and authentic storytelling, almost spoken word at times. Not his typical high pitched flow.

Joell Ortiz: Old school.

Royce da 5’9″: Very similar to Ortiz’ verse, throwback battle rap flow.

Eminem: Known for his machine gun rhyme schemes, he snaps on today’s pop culture.

For me, their verses rank in this order:

1. Crooked I

2. Eminem

3. Yelawolf

4. Joe Budden

5. Joell Ortiz

6. Royce da 5’9″

Look out for that Shady XV double disc dropping two weeks from today.
